Dividing the fretboard in this way really opens up a wealth of chordal ideas. Something a little less understood is that this system also allows us to bridge that gap between rhythm and lead... To channel our inner Hendrix if you will! To get started with this idea, we’re going to equip you with 1 lick per CAGED shape. The lick will be designed for this course, and will be something very practical to ensure you can immediately apply it!

One Lick Per Shape!

The course is neatly divided into 5 lessons to cover all 5 major CAGED shapes. We’re rooted in the key of A, and will be starting at the “bottom” with the lowest lick on the E shape, and then we work our way up through every CAGED shape in order. The licks are all very different, each offering rhythmic variations and a different stylistic approach. By the end of the course you’ll be a lot more comfortable with the CAGED shapes, and even more crucially, you will be more comfortable jumping between chord and lead fragments. This will hugely level up your technique, and your confidence in what you can do on this awesome instrument!
